Body Lotion: Best protection of Skin

Importance of Body Lotions

Skin reflects the state of beauty of women. Skin needs to be pampered by regularly moisturizing it. Most of the people think only facial skin needs to be moisturized. But it is not so! Besides the face, all other parts of the body need equal moisturizing. After a certain age like after 30, the proper moisturizing would benefit people. It keeps the body skin healthy and slows the aging process of skin. Skin should stay hydrated all the times to sustain the pollution and other factors, which lead to wrinkles. Body lotions make skin more elastic and supple.

Our skin is the largest organ of our body, which gets damaged by sun, poor diet, stress, pollution and hormonal changes. To counteract these damaging elements, there is great need of skin care products. Here comes the importance of body lotion. It should be used daily to replenish its moisture otherwise it will look dull, dry and irritated.

Kinds of Lotions

For different parts of body there are different kinds of lotions. Lotions used on facial skin are generally called as moisturizers and the lotions used for rest of the body are called as body lotions. Use prescribed lotion for particular part of body. Moisturizing intensity of lotions differ according to their type.

Hand and body lotions contain a large array of ingredients like coconut oil, avocado oil, aloe Vera, almond oil, beeswax, and rosehip oil. These lotions are scented with fragrances like peach, strawberry, chamomile etc.

What to look for in a Body Lotion:

While using a body lotion, you must first consider your skin type.

If you have dry skin, you need more intensive body lotion with extra moisturizing. If you have oily skin, you too need a body lotion but very light in intensity and having oil-free content. Your oily skin will become troublesome if not be hydrated properly. When hydration levels of skin are off, it tends to secret oil. For sensitive skin, you should use a body lotion, which is made up of mild all natural ingredients.

While considering a lotion for yourself, see that it contains sun-blocking ingredients also. A body lotion should be able to protect your skin from spectrum of light, which can cause skin cancer and early aging. If your body lotion protects against sun then you do not need to put a sun blocking cream.

There are body lotions available, having anti-aging effect also. For anti-aging lotions, you can consider buying creams having green tea extracts, peptides and amino acids.  Stretches marks can also be reduced to great extent buy the lotions containing stretch marks aid and firming serums. For healing stretch marks, Shea butter and mineral oils are the perfect choice.
Proper application of body lotion

Hand and body lotions can be applied twice daily that is in the morning or clear skin and before going to bed. Applying more amount of lotion in one time than needed will not do any good to your skin; instead your skin will droop and wrinkle. This is because excess lotion will clog the pores of the skin and it would not be able to breathe properly. It will make your skin break and chapped.

While applying body lotion, you must see the direction of massage skin. Strokes for applying lotion should be in long and upward movements. It will fight gravity and help in protecting skin from wrinkles and damage. Before putting on clothes, see to it that lotion is well rubbed and have dried otherwise clothing will absorb the lotion and your skin will not get full benefits of lotion.

Your skin needs special care in winters as winter dries up all the moisture.

Especially knees, back of hands, elbows really get dry and hard. For these portions, special care is needed. Apply body lotions soon after bathing, as at this time skin is most absorbing, damp and seal in external moisture.  Apricot body lotion is apt for hands and also you can prepare your own body lotion from natural ingredients.

After applying the body lotion, rub your skin properly with a towel to remove the dead skin. It improves blood circulation and makes the skin glow. In winter, you should avoid excessive use of soap or should use soap-free gels.
