Pedicure is a beauty treatment meant specially for feet. We often tend to neglect feet while going through our routine beauty regime. Feet need to be attended and cared regularly to give them a healthy and attractive look.  Feet absorb 5 times our body weight and if not cared properly, they develop many complications and problems. Attractive feet complete the overall look of our beauty. By following very simple steps, you can add tons of beauty to your feet.

Pedicure: What is it?


A pedicure is totally a pampering experience for feet. It takes care of toenails, heels, skin of foot and more. It is a procedure, which gives overall improvement of health of foot. You can go to a professional pedicurist or do it at home yourself. In a pedicure procedure foot are first soaked in warm, soapy water. After that dead skin is removed by rubbing with a scrubber, toenails are cut and given shape. After that foot are massaged by softening cream or lotion.

What are the benefits of a pedicure?


While you are going through a pedicure, you will feel like walking on air.

You can solve many skin problems of the foot. Foot problems such as calluses, toe infections, in-growth of toenail can be avoided by regular pedicure.  Your whole body relaxes and soothes by the massage on feet. Let us summarize the purpose of pedicure.

- Regular pedicure keeps you away from the common foot problems like cracks in heels, ingrown nails and other nail infections
- Blood circulation is increased by massage with cream, lotion and oils.
- It smoothens and nourishes the skin and makes glowing

Kinds of pedicure

You can get variety of pedicures according to your needs and requirements.  Different kind of products used and the sequence in which they are used make these different types. Also the way nails are cut or dressed make different kind of pedicure. You can choose right pedicure for yourself by going through spa’s description of pedicure treatment.

Let us see some types of pedicure:
American Pedicure: This is the regular pedicure where you soak your feet in the warm water, massaged and nails cut.

French Pedicure:
This is the classis type of pedicure where nail tips are filed into a square shape and polished with a clear or long-lasting varnish. Tips are kept white.

Luxury Pedicure:
You get a whole foot massage in this type of pedicure, treated with paraffin wax. Then hot towel or wrap is given to soothe and warm your feet. It hydrates the nails and softens the skin and nails. It is just a very popular kind of pedicure.

Intensive Paraffin wax: Your lower legs and feet are softened and moisturized by rubbing of warm wax into nails.

Procedure of Pedicure

- First of all, remove old nail polish with a non-drying nail polish remover.
- Now soak your feet for 10 minutes in warm, soapy water with hydrogen peroxide in it. You can use Epsom salt or bath salt.
- Now scrub you feet with the help of pumice stone, foot scrapper and nail brush. It will clean your feet and smoothen the skin.
- Wipe your feet and cut your nail straight across to avoid ingrown toenails.
- File edges of nails smooth
- Apply cuticle remover at the base of skin and rub it. Softly push the skin with orange stick.
- Now give a nice massage to your feet with a moisturizing lotion.
- For dry skin, use exfoliating lotion.
- Put cotton pads between the toes and apply first coat of nail polish. Let it dry completely and then apply second coat.

Tools needed for pedicure:

- Warm water in a tub
- Foot scrapper
- Nail Brush, nail filer, Nail cutter
- Pumice Stone
- Cuticle Cutter, Cuticle Pusher

Other Materials Needed

- Nail Polish remover
- Epsom Salt and Bath Salts
- Liquid Soap
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Nail Polish
- Moisturizing Lotion, Cream and oils
