Electrolysis: Method to Remove Hair Permanently

Electrolysis is the technique of hair removal. It permanently removes hairs from body. This technique removes individual hairs from face or body. This method requires training and skill. Technicians use medical electrolysis devices. These devices use heat energy and chemical energy to destroy the hair follicle. At the surface of skin, into the hair follicle, a fine probe is inserted and then with the help of forceps, hair is removed painlessly.

Need of electrolysis:
We have hairs all over our body. We have unwanted visible hairs on some parts of our body. This wrong growth of hair may be due to many reasons like hormonal levels, illness, some medicines or any temporary method of removal of hair, which results in stimulating growth of hairs. If women have hairs on lips, chin, hands cheeks, they want to get rid of this type of hair growth. Electrolysis is the best method to get rid of hairs permanently.

Facts about Electrolysis:
Electrolysis is a very old and proven method to remove irritating and unwanted hairs. Electrolysis can be used to remove hairs from eyebrows, eyelashes, face, abdomen, breasts, legs and hands. Besides that, there is no side effect of electrolysis. It may cause reddening of skin for sometime but it will get relaxed after a short while. It is very safe technique and it does not use any harsh chemicals, which can harm the skin.

Electrolysis does not cause pain. In fact there is no discomfort in electrolysis, just a little tingling. Local anesthesia may also be used. It is better than temporary methods of removing hairs. Like bleaching used to disguise hairs may discolor the skin. Waxing, which uses hot wax, removes top layer of skin while pulling off the strip. There are electrolysis devices for home use also but it is not safe to use them without any training and expertise.

Choose the electrologist carefully and get the complete information of the procedure. Wrong treatment may result in infection or scarring of the skin.

Methods of Electrolysis: Galvanic:  It is based upon the chemical decomposition method. It destroys the hair in hair follicle.  In this procedure, a needle is inserted into the hair follicle and current is passed. A lye solution is produced from body salts and moisture of the tissue. This solution destroys the hair follicle with its caustic effect.

High Frequency Method:
This method use high frequency current to produce heat, which in turn destroys the follicle. One thing is to be noted here, the needle introduced in the follicle does not produces the heat. It is the group of living cells, which produce the heat when comes into contact of high frequency current. Cells vibrate with drastic frequency and the heat is produced due to friction of cells. This is called thermolysis. This is faster method than galvanic method but have higher rate of hair growing back.

Blend Method: This technique combines the both of the above methods and has a dual action. It makes use of Galvanic current and high frequency current for the best results.  It is useful for treating coarse and deep-rooted hairs. This is the most successful method till date.

The Tweezers Electrolysis: In this treatment galvanic current is used but needle is not inserted in the follicle. In place of needle, insulated tweezers are used to pick the removed hair. A little amount of conducting gel is applied on that area. When galvanic current is passed through conducting gel, hair starts decomposing without any pain.

Number of Treatments, You Need:
There are many factors, which affect the hair growth cycle. You may need one to several visits to completely destroy the unwanted hairs. It differs from person to person. Each treatment takes 15 minutes to one hour. A trained and highly skilled electrologist should perform electrolysis. To get the best results from electrolysis, one should use right devices, right amount of current. Hair to be treated should be in growing stage, that is anagen stage. If any of these conditions are not fulfilled, you will have to visit again to get the hair permanently removed.

Precautions:

- Never go for removing nose or ear hairs through electrolysis.
- Removal of mole or birthmark should not be done by electrolysis.
- You should not choose for electrolysis, if you have pacemaker.
- You may feel a little pain while current is passed to the electrode.
- Carefully choose the salon and electrologist having a reputed track record.
