A Latest Trend: Eyebrow Piercing
Eyebrow piercing is the latest fashion, especially popular among the youngsters. Eyebrow piercing is a style of body piercing where you get your eyebrows pierced, mostly vertically. Eyebrow piercing is not as common as the ear or nose piercing, which are conventional piercings. Eyebrow has thick tissue, which makes it perfect for piercing and after healing.
Men and women, both get their eyebrows pierced for the love of style. This is a purely aesthetic piercing. Eyebrow piercing gets the attention to upper face or eyes. If you take proper care of your pierced hole and do not let it be infected, it will not leave any mark when removed.
Placing of the piercing
You can select the location where you want the piercing done. Commonly it is done at a 35-degree angle from outside corner of the eyebrow. You can get it pierced from right above the eye to the edge of the eyebrow, anywhere on the eyebrow. If you get it pierced at outer third of the eyebrow, it will give the illusion of wider eyes. While if you get it pierced within the inner third of eye, near the bridge of nose, it will give your complexion a serious look. Eyebrow is pierced at such an angle to let the ring set better. Although piercing is done vertically but there is another option where it is done horizontally under the eyebrow to let the ring hang downward.
Jewelry for the Eyebrow:
The most common jewelry for the eyebrow is the small ball closure ring.
For men, ring can be of size around 8mm. For women, it can be 6mm in size.
Very small barbells can also be used for eyebrow piercing. They get fixed on the skin and create fewer problems.
Healing of Eyebrow Piercing:
Eyebrow piercing takes around 5-6 weeks to heal completely. It may vary with individual to individual. The most important part of healing is to take proper care, so that it heals quickly.
You may have to face some problems too in usual course. Skin to be pierced at eyebrow is very thin and there are not many tissues to give it strength.
Other concern is the dust gathered in eyebrows. It gets in to the wound too.
You may get your piercing hurt while you are sleeping. All these concern slower the healing process. Eyebrow should be pierced with a very small ring or barbell as body tissue tries to throw out the foreign object in the body. To avoid exerting much pressure on wound, use of smaller jewelry is the best.
Guidelines while going for Eyebrow piercing:
- For getting the piercing done, go to a professional body piercer. Utmost care should be taken as for eyebrow piercing purpose; eye is the most important area of body.
- Eyebrow hair can irritate piercing. To make the piercing easy and free from any infection, clean hair near the point of piercing.
- Piercing should be done at proper place otherwise if jewelry is not properly put, it can damage nerves also. There are three important nerves present in the inner side of eyebrow.
- Instrument used for piercing should be well sterilized otherwise it can spread communicable diseases if it is done with a previously used instrument.
- Pain in eyebrow piercing is very less and can be tolerated. It takes 5-6 weeks to get complete relief from pain.
After care of Eyebrow piercing

- Mix salt in water and clean the piercing, taking care that it does not get into eye.
- You can clean any deposition on barbell by hot water with soft bristled toothbrush.
- You should take vitamin C to let it heal quickly.
- Avoid touch of anything to the wound, which contains hydrogen peroxide, betadine or alcohol.
