Hair Shampooing: Right Method
Why shampooing is important?
Hair shampooing is the normal part of daily regime of body cleansing. It is the hair, which attracts most of the dirt and dust when compared to other body parts. To get rid of dust, dirt, grease, lice and dandruff, shampooing is essential. It also protects hair from harmful effects of sunrays and pollution. Your scalp feel comfortable and give a clean appearance to the hair. If you are going to swimming, washing hair with shampoo after swimming is must. Shampoo helps to remove chlorine, salt water etc from hair.
Frequency of Shampoo: Frequency of shampooing depends upon the kind of hair you have, weather, and kind of work you are involved with. If you have oily hair, you should wash your hair with shampoo not less than thrice a week. If the atmosphere in which you work means dealing with dust, dirt, pollution and other things, which make your hair, dirty and greasy, then you should wash your hair frequently. In the same way, if the climate is too hot and humid which makes your sweat more in the scalp then it gets dirt quickly and you need to wash it frequently. Another factor, which influence it frequency, is the texture of hair. Straight hairs need to be washed every day to have sleek and radiant look. Curly hair can be washed every alternate day, as they look frizzy if washed daily.
Choosing a Shampoo: There are different kinds of shampoo for different kinds of hair. Select shampoo according to your hair type and any treatment, done to your hair. If you have dry hair, choose shampoo to help restore the moisture and repair damaged hair. For oily hair, choose deep cleansing shampoo. Do not get tempted by the fragrance, cost and foam of a shampoo. Wrong type of shampoo does chemical damage, color change or poor cleaning. If you have normal hair, go for extra body formula shampoos. For severely damaged hair, you need a shampoo with specialty formula. To cure problems like dandruff, you can buy a medicated shampoo.
How to use Shampoo effectively: First wet the scalp and hair using warm water or cool water but not the hot water. Now take a little shampoo on palm and distribute it evenly by rubbing palms. Do not apply shampoo directly on the scalp at one place. Now massage this shampoo into the scalp mildly using fingers; do not do this vigorously. Allow lather to cover each strand thoroughly. Unless you have oily hair, do not apply shampoo again. Do not pile up your hair on the head; it will create locks. Now rinse it thoroughly with water. Never brush wet hair as they tear it, rather use a comb if needed.
Conditioning after shampoo: After using shampoo, conditioning is also an important part of washing hair. Before applying conditioner, squeeze excess water from hair as wet hair do not absorb conditioner properly. Now take appropriate amount of conditioner in your hands and rub it on palms so that it gets distributed evenly. Apply it on the middle of shaft and down to the ends of the hair. There is no need to apply conditioner on your scalp unless it is dry. Now leave this on hair for few minutes- one or two minutes to smoothen the cuticles. After this, rinsing it properly is very important. Unless it is a leave-in conditioner, it is important to rinse out conditioner and shampoo completely. When your hair feel slippery, it means conditioner is well rinsed out. Cold water is the best for last rinsing as it boost circulation and make hairs shinier.
Need to switch shampoos: There is no need to switch shampoos. As long as you use them, they work effectively. Sometimes you can skip using conditioner or any styling product. You can opt for protein enriched shampoo and conditioner formula for delicate and fine hairs. For curly hair, you can go for moisturizing formula shampoos. You can change your shampoo, if you have gone for some change like color it or perm it.
