Daily Skin Care Routine
Daily skin care routine is very essential to keep the skin healthy. Skin is the largest organ of our body. Skin helps to maintain body temperature and also helps to get rid of toxins. There are some basic steps to take care of skin. Daily skin care routine includes personalized care, exercising, professional treatments and calm mind. The basic routine care of skin includes cleansing, toning, moisturizing, protection form sunrays and taking balanced diet. All of these are the essential steps regardless of skin type.
Daily Skin Care: Cleansing
Cleansing is first and the most important step of your daily skin care routine. Your skin catches lots of dirt, grease and other pollutants, which clog the skin pores. You skin have difficulty in breathing with blocked pores. It is very essential to cleanse your pores using an effective cleanser.
Generally for a normal skin, it is sufficient to cleanse face 2-3 times a day but oily skin catches more dirt and is more prone to bacterial activity, so it is recommended to wash oily skin 4-5 times a day. Frequency of cleansing also depends upon the climate, type of work you are doing.
If you have dry skin, avoid frequent washing with water and soap as it makes it drier. Instead of water and soap, you can use other alternatives for cleansing like creams, lotions, liquid s and gels. These cleansers are available for different skin types. These are mixture of water, oil and wax. You can dip a cotton wool in raw milk and use it to cleanse your skin, as milk is a good deep cleanser. Yogurt is also another natural cleanser with mild bleaching abilities.
To get best results, apply cleansers in right way. Massage with cleansing lotion or cream in circular upward and outward motions. Leave it for few minutes to penetrate deep into the skin and let it pull out dirt and makeup. Do not use harsh and rough movements. Wipe it clean with a cotton ball and then rinse with lukewarm water.
Daily Skin Care: Freshening or Toning
After cleansing, comes toning of skin. Toning is another essential step, which should not be missed every time you wash your face. Astringents, toners, fresheners are the skin freshening cosmetic products. Most of these products contain alcohol and water. This step helps to restore the PH balance (Acidic/alkaline balance) of the skin. Toning also removes last traces of dirt, oil and cleansers left over the skin. Always use the type of toner or freshener, which suits your skin type. People with dry skin should not use alcohol-based toners as they are drying on the skin. For oily skin, astringents containing alcohol are suitable. Mixture of cucumber juice and limejuice is a good toner for all skin types.
Daily Skin care: Moisturizing
After cleansing and toning, moisturizing is another vital, not-to-be missed step of daily skin care. Moisturizer works in two ways; its first function is to preventing loss of water from the skin and second function is to replacing the lost moisture from skin. Moisturizers help the skin against atmospheric conditions like dry wind, sunrays, heat etc. While applying foundation, you can apply tinted moisturizer below foundation. There are oil free moisturizers also for oily skin. You can choose from two types of moisturizers; water –in-oil emulsions and oil-in-water emulsions according to your skin type. For dry skins you can use moisturizing creams, which have high oil content. Apply moisturizer in circular, upward and outwards motion.
Daily Skin Care: Sun Protection
Ultra violet sunrays have damaging effect on your skin. You have to protect your skin form these rays as much as possible. Rain or shine, do not step out of home without applying sunscreen. Sunscreen should have minimum SPF 10. Apply it 10 minutes in advance before you go out of home. It comes in the form of creams and lotions.
Daily Skin care Routine: Balance Diet and Hydration
This is also the inherent part of daily skin care routine. You should drink plenty of water; at least 8-1o glasses per day to hydrate your skin. Water also helps to flush out toxins from your body and it results in healthy glowing skin. IN your daily diet, include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts. These are rich in antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, proteins, selenium, zinc and many more. Eat whole grains and legumes. Avoid having fried foods, chocolates, refined sugars and carbonated drinks.
Daily Skin Care Routine: Exercising
Daily exercising is necessary for the health of skin as it increase blood circulation in skin and whole body. You can meditate for having calm and balanced personality, which makes skin more receptive to all the efforts done towards its health.
