Night Creams: Facts and Usage
Night creams are designed to meet the demands of skin at night. Skin naturally repairs itself at night while you are sleeping. Night creams assist the skin to rejuvenate itself while you are at rest. Skin repairs itself for the damage done during the day. Skin metabolism rate is at its maximum while you are at rest at night. Skin gets higher supply of blood and oxygen. There are other factors too, such as sunrays, air conditioning, aging, which harm the skin during day. A day cream cannot work as effectively as a night cream can because of own activity of skin. Night creams also protect skin from free radicals at night, which are a cause of premature aging of skin.
You must use night creams after the age of thirty because once you reach above forty years of age, you cannot do much about the damage done. Night creams should contain high quality contents formulated to repair the damaged, lackluster skin. Tips For Applying Night Creams:-
- You should start using night creams well before the onset of wrinkles.
- To get the maximum benefit, you should apply night creams in proper way. Take night cream on your fingertip and apply in gentle, circular, upward motion.
- Avoid applying night cream around eyes, as eye skin is very delicate and cannot absorb thick creams; it will make eyelids puffy in the morning.
- Night cream should be applied after you have removed the makeup and cleansed the skin properly.
- Another important tip is to apply it over the damp skin to get it absorbed effectively. It will trap that extra moisture and your skin will feel smooth and soft next morning.
- Night creams are extremely useful for dry and extra dry skins.
- People with oily and greasy skin, should choose a formulation, which is less thick in consistency, and have less of oil content in them. They can use lighter formulations.
- Always choose a night cream according to your skin type as applying wrong type of night cream, which does not suit your skin type, can give adverse effects also.
Homemade Night Cream Recipe: Take 3 tbsp of almond oil, 2 tbsp of lanolin, 2 tbsp of cocoa butter, ½ tsp of honey and 2 tsp rose water. Take a double boiler pan to melt and smoothen the lanolin and cocoa butter. While still on heat, add almond oil and smoothen it properly. Now put off the heat and add rose water and honey. Blend all the ingredients very well.
Night Cream With Apple: Get 1/2 kg of mashed apples, one-cup rose water, ½ kg of vegetable fat, one tbsp of tincture of benzoin. Mix vegetable fat to the mashed apples. Now heat the mixture over low flame and keep stirring it continuously. Remove it from heat and mi9x rose water and tincture of benzoin to it. After cooling it keep it in refrigerator to store it.
