Hair permanent removal- Its Tips

June 18, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized  Bookmark and Share

Most consumers think “permanent” means lasting forever. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case as it’s used in advertising. For instance, a permanent wave in your hair is not really permanent, and a permanent marker is not necessarily permanent.

It’s difficult to assess a new hair removal method that claims to be permanent. Most people figure that after a certain amount of time, it’s unlikely that a hair will ever return. That’s why several people, myself included, have suggested a specific definition of “permanent.” Some of these definitions seem inadequate to me. One manufacturer claims their device is permanent based on results after 9 weeks. That’s ridiculous. Waxing can last that long, and it’s been clinically proven temporary.

Permanent Hair Removal Tips

Different Types of Hair

Before removing hair, it helps to know about the different types of hair on our bodies. All hair is made of keratin, a hard protein that’s also found in your fingernails and toenails. Hair growth begins beneath the surface of your skin at a hair root inside a hair follicle, a small tube in the skin.

You have two types of hair on your body. Vellus hair is soft, fine, and short. Most women have vellus hair on their chest, back, and face. It can be darker and more noticeable in some women than others, especially those with darker complexions. Vellus hair helps the body maintain a steady temperature by providing some insulation.

Electrolysis.. Anyone who has had electrolysis knows there isn’t a good place on your body for a needle. Ouch! Again, why would you want a stranger going there? Redness, possible scarring.. do I need to say more? And, Finally Free is just as effective so why put up with all the pain and expense.

Waxing, Shaving, Depilitories…we all have gone that route. That just isn’t something I want to keep doing and doing and doing.

A hair permanent removal treatment that can be considered completely permanent is electrolysis. Because electrolysis works follicle by follicle, utilizing a small needle with electrical current, it is safe to say that the individual follicle treated will be permanently removed. While electrolysis is considered highly effective for small areas such as the upper lip and chin, the advent of laser technology has made electrolysis less than ideal for larger areas such as full facial hair removal or bikini hair removal. Instead, laser hair removal offers control and efficiency for large areas, especially the back and full legs. Imagine having to sit through multiple sessions of electrolysis when you’re treating your full legs or back! Additionally, electrolysis can be quite painful and can cause skin discoloration in darker skin tones.

USING CREAMS AND GADGETS

Depilatory creams use chemicals to dissolve the hairs at the skin’s surface. They are often used for facial hair removal or removal of hairs around the bikini line. Different creams can be purchased for different hair removal tasks. As these creams contain harsh chemicals, they may irritate the skin. For this reason, all creams should be tested on the skin before use.

Hair bleaches lighten the hair, so that it is becomes less visible. There are a number of hair bleaches available in the stores. Hair bleaches are popular for facial hair, where it is difficult to remove hair without waxing or undergoing permanent hair removal treatments, like laser facial hair removal.

ELECTROLYSIS

Professionally it is known as “Derma blend”, and the technique uses a needle to reach the hair bulb in each follicle & passes a DC current a short burst of AC current to kill the hair bulb permanently. Quite widely advertised earlier, it’s now considered only second best to lasers as it’s time consuming (even an expert can remove only 30-40 hairs per hour) & some hair bulbs might still escape & cause regrowth.

Evaluate your options.

Keeping your list in front of you, learn as much as you can about various hair removal methods (electrolysis, laser hair treatments, waxing, sugaring, threading, shaving, tweezing, epilators, hair growth inhibitors, and depilatories). Search for information from friends, books, aestheticians, reliable web sites, and magazines. Surf the net to check out specific brands, such as Nads, Nair and Shick, to weigh up the results you can expect from products versus your time and money. For each method, evaluate any risks as well as how it meets your needs. Don’t forget to consider your options for hair removal pain relief!
