Homemade rose water- Its Recipes
Classically, rose water is made using damask roses, many-petaled and fragrant. These were first grown in Iran and Bulgaria, but are now frequently found in Spain, Italy, and France. However, the Middle Eastern countries remain some of the largest producers of rose water because of the availability of damasks. If one is trying a homemade recipes, recommendations for other types of roses include most of the purple shaded varieties, such as Angel Face and Sterling Silver, as they tend to be the most fragrant.Homemade Rose Water:
To begin with, you will need to take a large pot. Place a clean rock or a brick in this pot. Fill this with rose petals; these need to be around the brick/rock. Fill this with water. Place a glass dish on top of the rock/brick. Place a stainless bowl on top of this pot. Fill the bowl with ice. Heat this and let it simmer for about 3 hours. This would also depend upon the number of petals that are placed inside. Replace the ice as required. Now, you would notice that the bowl, which contains the ice, would condense the steam. This will drip into the glass bowl. This water is the pure rose water. The layer of oil on top will be the essential oil. The rose essential oil is used in lotions and potpourris as well. Spray some rose water on your face at the end of a tiring day and feel all the tensions and troubles melt away!
This is a simple recipe for an effective night treatment lotion. Lemon juice contains citric acid and has a natural AHA effect on the skin. Rosewater and glycerine are soothing and softening, and avocado oil is an emollient particularly suited to dry skin. If desired, you can replace the avocado oil with the plant oil of your choice. Almond oil, apricot kernel oil, peach kernel oil, camellia oil and olive oil all work well in this recipe.
Take one cup of Rose Petals, 2 cups of water, a glass bowl with lid. Glass bowl should be heat resistant. Water should be filtered or distilled. Take cheesecloth and also a glass jar with lid.
Take freshly picked rose petals. Wash them thoroughly to remove any chemical on them. Quantity of rose petals should be fully packed one cup. Separately boil two cups of water and pour over the rose petals in the glass bowl. After this cover the glass bowl with lid and let rose petals steep for 30 minutes. Then remove it from fire and allow it to cool. Strain this water from a cheesecloth or fine strainer. Throw away the rose petals and collect the pure rose water in a glass jar with lid.
Over the double boiler with the water simmering, combine the above oil of your choice (Sweet Almond, Olive or Canola Oil) with the grated Beeswax stirring gently until the Beeswax has melted. (This takes about 8 minutes)
Take the mixture off the heat and while stirring constantly slowly add the Rose water.
Take a large pot, insert a clean brick or rock, fill with rose petals or Herbs or whatever around the brick. Cover with water and place a small glass dish on top of the brick. On top of the pot put a stainless bowl and fill with ice. Simmer about three hours depending how many petals or Herbs you have, replacing the ice as needed.
The bowl with the ice will condense the steam and drip down into the glass bowl. The water in the glass bowl is your Rose Water or whatever herb, on top will be a layer of oil. This is the essential recipes for homemade rose water.
