How to Apply Concealer
Concealers are fast, effective tools for disguising blemishes, shadows scars and red veins. Concealers pick up where foundations leave off and their ultra-dense textures are applied selectively to blot out blemishes.
Concealer are used with sponge applicators and ideal for dabbing over spots and large freckles, or lentigenes - sun induced “age spots”.
How to Apply Concealer
Always apply your concealer on top of foundation and before you add powder. If you try to do things the other way round, you might wipe the concealer off when applying your foundation. To disguise under-eye darkness, gently pat concealer under the eyes using the index finger. Exert only gentle pressure and blend outwards, taking care not to drag the skin.
Dark shadows: Before choosing a concealer, test it over your foundation. If you can’t see it, that’s the right shade. For a natural look, apply foundation first and then top it up on the inner half of the under eye. If you have fine lines just emerging, you won’t be adding weight to the outer half and showing off more than you should hide.
For bags under your eyes and puffiness: Puffiness and bags are harder to conceal. Use a brush after applying foundation and paint a light concealer shade into the dip under the bag. If your concealer contains light-diffusing particles, it really helps as heavy concealer will only worsen your bags.
Use a fine tipped brush for applying concealer properly. Concealer is a very important part of make up base. Try choosing a concealer shade which a shade lighter than the skin tone. To hide the under eye dark circles, apply a concealer with yellow tone.
Before applying concealer, apply a layer of eye cream. It will prevent concealer from drying and getting deposit in wrinkles and fine lines around eye. Concealer should be applied in small quantities and also a matt finish concealer is fine for creating a smooth look on the skin. Apply a skin moisturizer before application of concealer.
To disguise dark under eye circles, use a thicker, creamy textured concealer, and ensure you blend it well. Be careful when applying to this area that you don’t press too hard, and avoid dragging concealer sticks in particular, as the skin here is very delicate! Also don’t use too much loose powder on this area, as it can settle into the natural creases around the eye, making any fine lines appear larger.
The best way to tackle scars is to use tricks of the light to your advantage. If getting rid of indents, use a lighter shade of concealer than your skin tone, but to most effectively disguise raised scars, use a concealer slightly darker than your natural colour.
Concealer comes as sticks, cream and tubes and cab also be used to cover rubicund areas and freckles on the face. Choose a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your skin tone. The number of shades lighter will depend upon your make-up and secod is your skin.
Concealers with white, green or pink base most mormally do not match with the skin tones and the foundation of a person. Many women look best and favour concealer placed just slightly below dark circles.
