How To Look Younger
Many of us still are searching for the Fountain of Youth. We go to all extremes to look younger. We spend endless dollars on surgical face lifts to bioxin treatments. There are other methods, not as drastic, to assist in giving us a more youthful look, make us feel better about ourselves, and not as costly.
Look Younger
No matter how old you are you would like to look young and smart. There are a number of beauty tricks that can take the years off you. These beauty tips will make you look young and you will start feeling young too. Read the simple tips given below for a younger and smarter look:
Wear your hair below your chin. Side-swept bangs and hair just below the chin will make you look younger.
The shade of lipstick you use can add or take off years. Do not use lipsticks in shades of brown.
Use automatic tanning creams (such as Clarins) rather than sunbathing or sun-beds. There are many excellent creams available now which don’t leave you looking like streaky bacon!
Try dyeing your eyebrows and eyelashes. It’s best to ask a friend to help or visit a salon.
Pluck away any unruly eyebrow hair with the help of a magnifying mirror. To keep them in shape all day, try running some clear hair-gel or clear mascara through them.
Your Teeth
You don’t have to say a word about your age — pearly (or not-so-pearly) whites will say it for you.
Age giveaway: Years of eating and drinking can leave your teeth yellow or gray, and if you smoke, forget it. But size and shape also matter. Young-looking teeth are vibrant, with clean, rounded edges, explains Dallas cosmetic dentist Dale Greer, D.D.S. Older ones are the opposite (small, worn, chipped). In addition, your gums may recede over time and leave you looking as if you have gaps between your teeth, he says.
Chill Out. Cooling your eyelids also helps eliminate puffiness, says Cox. On each closed lid, place a cold tea bag (any type will do), a refrigerated cucumber or potato slice, or the secret weapon of many makeup artists–a chilled teaspoon (put spoons in the fridge the night before), “[Spoons] fit into the contour of the eye, and the metal retains cold long enough to be effective,” says Tamara Marcus, an esthetician in Brooklyn, N.Y. In 10 to 15 minutes, any of these items will reduce puffy eyes.
Heal Hands. Rough hands are a dead giveaway of age. To rejuvenate them, right before bedtime slather on a generous coat of sesame oil, canola oil, or sunflower oil, suggests Cox. Slip on cotton gloves (or you can use socks), and sleep with them on. The oil barrier prevents moisture loss from your skin, she explains. By morning, your hands will be baby soft and smooth.
Lipstick
Lips lose their fullness and become paler over time. But there are tricks to give you back your pout. Just adding a hint of colour will make you look more youthful. Rose pinks, apricots and berry shades are all good choices for lifting the complexion.
Texture matters too. Matte can be ageing, so choose moisturising, creamy and semi-sheer lipstick finishes. You can also add gloss on top of your usual lip colour to give a fuller effect. Outlining your lips with pencil can help to make them look fuller too. Just make sure the pencil matches your lipcolour, so you look chic and polished.
Go dark: Exposure to light, even at the level in most living rooms, can suppress the release of melatonin, the sleep hormone, making it difficult to doze off. An hour before bedtime, dim the lights, turn off the TV and computer and make your room as dark as possible.
Release tension: Consider taking a warm bath an hour before bed. Beyond feeling relaxing, the rise and subsequent fall in body temperature slows the heart and makes you drowsy.
